Play-in-a-day for 11-14 year olds

On Sunday 13th November Grow Your Own Theatre will be taking over The Mill – exploring, and using all the space we find for an exciting day of drama and theatre-making!

Fifteen 11-14 year olds will be working hard with our enthusiastic and experienced facilitators– creating in the morning, rehearsing over lunch and performing – with music, costumes and props -in the afternoon. And the day will be filmed so you can remember what a great time you had. The local community is encouraged to come and watch our performance at 2.30pm.

There are still a few places left for young people to get involved, the project is free to book (there is a suggested donation of £5 on the day, all proceeds to The Mill.)

Grow Your Own Theatre is a new Social Enterprise, set up by local resident and ex-London Teacher Sarah Chase and experienced Theatre and Venue Manager Gill East. The company aims to provide inclusive, affordable and creative drama classes for young people in Walthamstow. Youth Theatre for 11-18yrs starts in January!

“Walthamstow is an incredibly diverse and artistic borough, yet we have no arts centre here. We want to provide a safe and affordable space for young people to be creative and work together.” Sarah Chase, Artistic Director of Grow Your Own Theatre.
