Mo Gallaccio retires from her role with Art Works

Mo Gallaccio standing in front of a wall displaying bright and colourful children's paintings Mo Gallaccio has recently announced her retirement from her role as The Mill’s Art Works coordinator. Mo was one of the original Trustees of The Mill, and was an instrumental part of the team who campaigned to save the old St James Street library building and turn it into a space for the community. Her enthusiasm and her gift for networking and engaging people, helped to establish The Mill as one of Walthamstow’s leading creative centres.

Mo has led the Art Works team of volunteers to run a year-round programme of exhibitions and activities for all ages. Thanks to her efforts, we’ve hosted dozens of exhibitions, displayed artwork by hundreds of artists (from toddlers to Turner-prize winners), and run a multitude of creative workshops, activities and events for the local community, including the hugely popular Thursday Kids Art Club. Mo’s work has enabled The Mill to become a platform for local artists of all genres and experience, inspiring others in our borough and beyond.

Mo would like to thank all the artists and everyone in our community who’s been involved in Art Work projects over the years:

Thank you for establishing The Mill’s Living Room as a community art space. I have got to know several of you over the years and am happy to count many of you as friends. I hope you will all continue to rise to the challenge of new exhibitions in the future. Long may creativity flourish!

Although she’s stepping back from her Art Works role, Mo will still continue to volunteer with us. We want to thank her for her exceptional commitment to The Mill, helping to create the space it is today.
