Stunning September Success!

We rely on fundraising and donations to keep The Mill running and support our local community. This September, to celebrate our fourth birthday, our volunteers were challenged to put on a series of events and activities to help raise money for The Mill. They really stepped up to the mark and put on some fabulous events and activities.

We started the month with a bang with our Fourth Birthday Party, the dress code was bowties and party hats, and there was a giant birthday cake lucky dip, as well as plenty of delicious edible cakes.

We took part in the St James Big Local Jumble Trail 2015 organised by St James Big Local, selling baby clothes, bric-a-brac, friendly cactuses and giving Jumble Trailers a chance to rest their feet with tea and cake.

Next up was the wonderful International Food Evening, where guests could try tasty dishes from Poland to Nigeria, Venezuela and Spain and a dozen other countries in between, all entertained with music, and lots of chatter.

We finished the events at The Mill with our much loved annual Apple Day celebration, with juicing, apple bobbing and music and laughter and fun!

And finally, The Mill knitters took part in the Fun Palace at Vestry House Museum and sold lots of their wonderful creations.

The great news is that altogether the events raised over £700, that’s enough to pay our rent for a month and will cover the cost of our core First Aid Training! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped organise all the activities and to everyone who took part, bought goodies and made donations!

Would you like to help organise our winter event? We are looking for more volunteers to join our friendly events team. If you’re interested, contact Charlotte at charlotte@themill-coppermill.org

There are lots of ways you can support our work, volunteer, donate, become a Friend of The Mill or buy raffle tickets before the 16th October 2015 to win a mini masterpiece in the Greatest Little Art Show in E17.
