Highlights this week are lots of opportunities for storytelling and conversation – you can share your memories and hear those of other Walthamstow residents with a tale to tell …
Tuesday 8 March
10:30-13:00 – Tales from the marsh: Come and share your memories of Walthamstow Marsh in the second of six creative workshops. Using drama, games, storytelling, creative writing and craft, we will explore your oral history stories of the local neighbourhood. Through the workshops you will generate material for a performance and exhibition to take place this summer on the marsh and in The Mill. You are invited to co-create the work, inputting your ideas around what and how you want your memories to be presented. For further information contact Siobhan O’Neill – 0798 951 9522- Siobhan.ONeill.2014@live.rhul.uk
Wednesday 9 March
14:00-17:00 – Waltham Forest Community Radio: New contributors are always welcome at this small group which meets at the Mill to make recorded programmes for podcast (distribution on the Internet) and distribution by means of free CDs at the Mill reception desk. Our aim is to explore issues that matter to local people, give a platform to local creative talent and engage in informal chat about all our lives, interests and opinions. Please check out our past programmes at Millradio.com and join us on the second Wednesday of each month between 2.00 and 5.00 pm to make new ones. Click here for more information …
Thursday 10 March
12:00-13:30 – Words, conversation and Scrabble: Come along to gain confidence in spoken English, or simply if you enjoy a good game of Scrabble to help improve your vocabulary.
All nationalities welcome. For more information contact Adele Tinman – tinman.adele@yahoo.com
15:30-17:00 – What’s your story? Discover children’s story centre: An art & craft drop-in workshop families. We invite you to tell us your story as you design a personalised box which will contribute towards an impressive large scale sculpture, mapping the people and places of Waltham Forest. Unleash your inner artist and decorate your box with the colours, patterns and stories that represent you. Where are you from? Where would you like to go? What’s Your Story? This is a free event for families living in Waltham Forest. Places are available on a first come, first served basis. Parents and Carers are welcome to participate and must remain within The Mill building whist their child is taking part. Click here for full information.
And – as ever – you can just call-in to make a cuppa, read the newspapers, borrow a book from the honesty library, and let your little ones enjoy all the toys in the playroom.
Everyone is welcome whenever we are open. We’re looking forward to seeing you @ The Mill this week … !
