Animalympics! children’s art exhibition

Guinea Pig Roller-Blading, Hare Hurdles, and the Slow Race for snails?  These are just a few of the fun sports that children from across Waltham Forest dreamt up for the Animalympics Art Competition set by E17 Art House Picture Framers and Gallery.

Children were given the opportunity to create pictures of their own fun Olympic games – for ANIMALS, in the art competition last autumn.

An exhibition of all these wonderful entries is being held at The Mill from Tuesday 15 May – Saturday 16 June 2012.

Co-owner of E17 Art House and local artist Kirsten Schmidt said:

” We asked the children to let their imaginations run wild – and they did! We were impressed by the number of fantastic ideas, and how seriously the children took it. Real effort has gone into the work and we’re very excited for this to be our creative contribution to the Olympics.”

The competition was judged by none other than Walthamstow artist Catboy (Carl Harris), who illustrated last year’s E17 Art Trail Guide, and who handing out prizes to the young artists at the awards ceremony recently.

Artist Kirsten Schmidt will be holding a Printmaking Workshop at The Mill, for children aged 5-12 years old, on Thursday 14 of June at the Mill, from 3.45pm to 5pm. Parents/guardians are required to stay on site.
