What’s On 10th – 15th April

Welcome back to The Mill after an Easter break.

There are loads of event’s happening this week for all ages, but particularly for Children during the Easter break. To see just the children’s activities visit here featuring the return of Grow Your Own Theatre with “Eggscellent’ Adventures” for 3-7 year olds.

Contemporary Dance will be coming to The Mill on Friday and you can try your hand too. There’s Italian lessons, Improve your English sessions, E17 Quilt making and chess plus the regular knitting, Re-cycled Teens and more… or just pop in to read the paper.

Artist Gillian Lawrence exhibits her recycled and refreshed textiles “RAGWORKS”.  These are hand-sewn wall-hangings depicting Nursery rhyme and fairy story characters.

Gain confidence in spoken English with Cllr. Clare Coghill and Adele Tinman. All nationalities welcome.

13:30 – 15:30 ‘Coppermill Recycled Teenagers’
The over 60’s group “The Coppermill `Recycled Teenagers” and their leader Sue Clarke meet, they devise a variety of activities and discussions. They have room for more members. Small donation.

WEDNESDAY, 11 APRIL

10:00 – 12:00 Mixed media beginners art for adults
Join Rosie for 2 hours of stimulating art workshops.  Suitable for everyone including  beginners , children welcome. Small donation for materials and The Mill.

10:30 – 12.30 Basic 1-2-1 Computer Skill Training
1-2-1 computer sessions with Amanda for the over 60’s

11:00 – 12:00 Make your own poisonous snake with Carolyn
A felting workshop for younger children of 3 and up – £1 donation for The Mill

12:00 – 14:00 Asian Womens Support Group

13:00 – 15:00 WF Carers meeting
Do you care for someone who is frail, elderly or confused? Do you feel isolated or lonely? Why not come along to our vibrant carers group run by carers themselves and have some fun. We are doing lots of creative things and a chance to talk to other carers who may in a similar position to yourself.

Informal sessions for the experienced knitter and the complete novice. Support and teaching where required.

11:00 – 13:00 Neighbourly Quilt – Intro to Felting
Catherine West of Significant Seams and Kate Rolison are running a children’s workshop for The Neighbourly Quilt project. Come and learn about felting.

13:00- 16:00 Stipple and Stencil – Create your own lizard print to take away and add your design to our step-and-repeat lizard pattern wall
Organised by Dave of See’n’make for children aged 7-12.
Max 10 children approx. FREE

18:30 – 20:30 Contemporary Dance
A public rehearsal of a new dance piece by Mansoor Ali (Choreographer) & Jonathan Bell (Music).

Come and watch or take part in workshops with a professional choreographer and his dancers, perhaps you will help  create a new work in progress!

Entrance by donation –  suggested £5 to fund future workshops and activities at The Mill

10:00 – 10:50 Grow Your Own Theatre – ‘Eggscellent’ Adventures – 3-5 year olds
Children take part in a making activity, then use their creation to inspire their very own stories. Parents/carers are welcome to leave their children with us and come back to share our mini show at the end.

ICARUS will be talking to anyone who is in the Mill asking how they think the project is going.

11:00 – 13:00 Chess at The Mill
Who is it aimed at? Beginners and improver’s – Everyone is welcome!
Aged from 11 years upwards
Minimum donation £2 (towards The Mill)
What to bring? A few chess sets would be available, but please bring your own set – if you have one! See you there!

11:30 – 13:00 Community Breakfast
A gathering of people from the community to share breakfast and chat. Come and Join them! An excuse to make muffins and some new friends.
