Workshop Highlights:

1. Introduction to African Textile Printing: Adire Cloth

· Beginning with an exploration of the traditional Nigerian Adire cloth including the history, symbolism, and cultural significance of patterns and designs.

2. African inspired textiles printing on Gel Plate:

· Learn the basics of gel printing, by exploring various color combinations, layering, and blending techniques to add depth and complexity to the prints and learn how to transfer your designs onto fabric or paper.

· Apply your newfound knowledge of African textile design and experiment with different textures, and patterns to create your unique designs inspired by African motifs.

3. Origami creations:

· Introduction into the world of origami, the Japanese art of paper folding with basic folds applied to the beautifully patterned textile prints created to craft origami outfits and other figures.

Materials and Equipment

Participants will receive gel plates, acrylic paints, brayers, stencils, stamps and other found materials for the printing process.

Protective equipment is provided. However, it’s crucial to remember that even with these measures in place, your clothing could get stained with paint. To ensure a safe and clean experience, please make sure you are wearing your protective gear correctly and use tools responsibly avoiding excessive splashing
