The Sunday Cycle

All are welcome to join a social bike ride starting from the front door of The Mill on Sunday 6 June 2021, and then on the first Sunday of each month thereafter.  I am taking over from the very wonderful Katja Rosenberg, whose departure to pastures new in Dagenham has left a gaping hole for me to fill, so wish me luck!

We are a friendly bunch, and ride at a gentle pace that allows people to chat and admire the view, as we almost always ride along car-free paths and byways to destinations often chosen by the participants themselves.  If we do have to ride on roads shared with motor traffic,  we ride in what I call a ‘bike bus’, where the bunch is topped and tailed by experienced cycle marshals.  We pick up the pace a little on these occasions, if only to leave the pollution and congestion far behind us as quickly as possible.

Each ride is about 20 miles or so maximum,  and we ALWAYS stop at a congenial venue for a leisurely lunch and in summer we sometimes even have a picnic.  Everyone who takes part is responsible for the condition of their bike, and we ask that people make sure they bring water for themselves and lights for their bike in winter.  We aim to be back by about 5pm, which should give ample time for a leisurely ride and a relaxed lunch.
