Welcome to our exhibition of Magic, Myths and Miracles. We hope you enjoy looking at our vibrant display.
In 2024 we were awarded a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund in order to be able to run a year-long programme of creative activity with adults living in the borough who have various vulnerabilities. We broke down the programme into 3 discrete, 10 week projects with themes of Magic, Myths and Miracles. We ran 27 workshops and 3 outings with the group.
We began in the Sprint into Summer 2024 by thinking about and getting to trial out the Magic of process beyond its outcome which meant we used mediums which are unpredictable and therefore you are not aware of how the outcome will look whilst going through the process.
In the Autumn we looked at the human condition and associated Myths as well as why Mythology from around the world. We then created our own mythological worlds. The final pieces for this work can be found in the see-through boxes by the entrance. Please do feel free to open the boxes and look inside but also be careful not to move things.
Then finally this year in 2025 we focused on the celebration of everyday Miracles such as creation and creativity in its broadest sense and were lucky enough to be visited by 8 different professional artists who delivered workshops with us.
Each week we looked at different artists from around the world and locally who create their professional artwork in different and using different techniques styles. Throughout the exhibition you will therefore see a wide variety of these which we have tried out during our sessions together.
