Over the next year we’ll be in Waltham Forest collaborating with local residents on Listen Local, a new project commissioned as part of the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture 2019.
If it’s where you call home, we’d love to get to know you.
We’re launching the year with See the Real, a 100 second film competition, if you’re a local, all you need is an idea and a smart phone with a camera.
Submit your film by 10 March for the chance to win exciting prizes including £250.
Recipe for your very own homemade See the Real film
Ingredients
A pinch of your secret self
500g of local knowledge
50ml of bright ideas
A dollop of your smart phone
A finely chopped corner of a place that’s special to you in the borough
Method:
1. Choose a place that’s special to you in the area, it could be inside or outside, private or public e.g. a local shop, tree or your granny’s bathroom.
2. Think of a story for that place, true or made up e.g. first kiss, scoring in the Champions League final or an escaped alligator.
3. Start making. Is it from your point of view? Or a bystander? Or the place itself? You could include: unexpected locals, dance routines or surprises.
4. Go to the camera on your phone, select the video function and record.
5. Submit your 100 second film here by 10 March for a chance to win £250.
