Children’s knitting nest

Three workshops from 4pm to 5pm across three Tuesdays in February and March, for children and young adults.

Catherine’s workshops will include learning the basic knit and purl stitches, and techniques for casting on, casting off, picking up dropped stitches etc. The aim is to introduce absolute beginners and help fledgling knitters with inspiration and/or to troubleshoot their work. There will be the possibility of making simple projects individually or as a collective with others in the group over the three weeks with hands on help.

Suggested age is from 6ish (or able to hold needles, yarn and concentration) to young adult.

Breathing and movement will be woven into the sessions to help settle into knitting as a meditative craft.

Catherine, 49, graduated from Wimbledon College of Art in 2013. She makes in many media – drawing, printmaking, animation, watercolour, pottery, textiles – knitting, sewing as art and to wear. She is a qualified yoga, breath work and energy healing practitioner, living in Walthamstow some 20 years
