Inclusive Weekly Gathering for Adults and Families
The Autism Support Group & Community Games Club, hosted by Surna’s Empowerment and Social Hub CIC, is a welcoming weekly event designed to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for adults aged 18 and over with autism, as well as their carers, siblings, and families.

Name: Surna Khan
Founder and Director of Surna’s Empowerment and Social Hub CIC
Autism & Neurodiversity Support Lead
Background
Surna Khan combines lived experience with strong academic achievements. She holds a BA (Honours) in Health and Social Care, a Postgraduate Degree in Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, and has successfully passed her Master’s in Autism Spectrum at Sheffield Hallam University, with graduation scheduled for November 2026. As the Autism & Neurodiversity Support Lead, she guides the organisation’s approach to autism‑informed and neurodiversity‑inclusive support, ensuring all practice is grounded in specialist knowledge, lived experience, and research‑informed understanding. She also plans to pursue a PhD, further strengthening her long‑term commitment to the autism community.
Experience
Surna has extensive experience providing specialist support to individuals with autism, families, and caregivers. She has facilitated community groups and wellbeing sessions, offering practical guidance, communication strategies, and accessible approaches tailored to individual needs. She also mentors volunteers, helping them build confidence and contribute meaningfully to community activities. Her work empowers carers, siblings, guardians, and volunteers to better understand and advocate for their loved ones, reducing isolation and building confidence.
Focus
As a volunteer facilitator of the Autism Support Group & Community Games Club, Surna creates a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for adults, carers, siblings, and families. These sessions provide space to connect, share experiences, and explore supportive approaches together. The groups are designed specifically for adults, ensuring dedicated time for peer support, guidance, and community connection.
