Take part in our next community exhibition

A Climate of Change brings together Waltham Forest residents to draw hope for and from the natural world in this time of coronavirus crisis and to bring forth better, more sustainable communities.

Earlier this year, as part of Waltham Forest’s Virtual Culture programme, The Mill ran our first ever virtual exhibition – A Climate of Change. We are thrilled to announce that we will be transforming this virtual exhibition into a physical one, at The Mill’s – from 13 September to 27 November 2020.

If you weren’t able to contribute to the virtual show, you can now submit your physical artworks for this show! All local artists are invited to submit work to The Mill’s next exhibition:

You can see the fantastic digital submissions we received for the virtual show, including works like Rosalind Stephens’ Peonies and Yvonne Overton’s Days Like These (both shown below, left and right respectively).

Two art works, on the left a photograph of a bunch deep red peonies, on a black background, the flowers are framed by their green leaves. On the right a painting of the sun in bright reds to yellow

Take part

To submit your art works for the exhibition, please:

  • Complete the Entry Form
  • Bring the form and physical artworks to The Mill between 10.30am-2.30pm on one of the following five dates: Sat 5 Sept, Sun 6 Sept, Weds 9 Sept, Thurs 10 Sept, or Fri 11 Sept
  • Please adhere to The Mill’s social distancing guidelines, as described here.

Terms & Conditions

Please see the Entry Form for full terms and conditions, which include:

  • Up to 3 pieces per person. All work must be “ready to display” (e.g. framed, with fixings) and accompanied by a completed entry form.
  • Works can be in any media – but please read the Entry Form re maximum size, weight and other things…

Fees

The Mill usually charges a submission fee of £10 per piece (£5 per piece unwaged concessions), which goes straight into The Mill’s budget for operating and staying open. Given the unprecedented nature of the global pandemic – and our belief that art plays a positive role in our community and people, especially in times like these – we’re waiving this fee. However, our income has been hit during lockdown, and any donations by submitting artists are gratefully received. You can make a donation online or via card or cash when you bring in your work.

Queries specifically about this exhibition should be emailed to the curator Stephen Bennett (info@srgbennett.com); more general queries should be emailed to the Art Works Administrator (artworks@themille17.org).

We look forward to seeing your amazing creations!
