Dagenham Brook Flood Alleviation Scheme

A public drop-in for the Dagenham Brook Flood Alleviation Scheme run by the Environment Agency.

The Dagenham Brook is a small river that flows alongside the Lee Flood Relief Channel (LFRC) in Walthamstow. The LFRC has run at full capacity on several occasions, and it is expected that  during extreme flood events, the LFRC will overflow into the Dagenham Brook. This would overwhelm this smaller watercourse and cause flooding to households and businesses.  In order to reduce flood risk, we are proposing to raise defences along the LFRC and Dagenham Brook so that a greater capacity of flood water can be contained. These works could reduce flood risk for up to 462 residential properties, as well as private businesses and critical infrastructure.

This drop-in is for everyone! Whether you are a local resident, business owner or just passing through. We want to encourage as many people as possible to attend to share our ideas and hear your views. There is no limit on number of places, we expect there to be a steady flow of people throughout the day coming and going so please drop by when you have the chance.

If you are interested and want to know more, contact HNL-PSO@environment-agency.gov.uk or phone 0208 4748950. If you contact us here the can get back to you with more information on the scheme, and provide full details for those who were unable to attend on the day.
