This week sees the start of regular sessions on Thursdays during term-time of an after-school art club for children, and a new 6-week course “Wellbeing for Seniors” which starts on Friday. And on Saturday, you can call in to grab a bargain at The Mill’s Jumble Trail stall. All week (except Monday)
Everyone is welcome whenever we are open. You can borrow a book from the honesty library, bring your little ones to enjoy all the toys in the playroom, make a cuppa and have a chat – and we also have leaflets, flyers and posters on display so you can find out what else is going on in Walthamstow (and beyond!)
And there’s always art on the walls of our living-room. This week you can view the exhibition of postcard-size artworks in The Greatest Little Art Show and Raffle in E17. Monday 12 September
6pm-7pm – Gentle Yoga – Learn some gentle healing poses and relaxation techniques, which you can also do safely at home. Classes are small (up to 8 students), so you will get plenty of individual attention. £10 drop in or £9 with a loyalty card. 7pm-8.30pm – Ashtanga Yoga – This class is also led by Josetta who specialises in teaching beginners this dynamic style of yoga, but all levels are catered for.Regular students buy ten week loyalty cards for a discounted £10 per class. Drop-ins are also welcome, space permitting for £11. This class is for anyone with little or no experience of either yoga or Ashtanga yoga, as well as for those who wish to develop their practice. 7pm-9pm – Make Your Mark –The second class of this four-week course is taking place at The Mill. There are sometimes places available for those who have not previously attended. Tuesday 13 September
4pm-7pm – Community Acupuncture Clinic – This community clinic offers low cost, highly effective and professional acupuncture treatments making treatments affordable to everyone without compromising on quality and care in a calm and relaxing multi-bed clinic setting. Patients receive treatments in small groups in comfortable reclining chairs or massage tables distributed in the same room. You decide what you can afford on a sliding scale between £20-£40. Wednesday 14 September
9.30am-12.00pm – The New Parents Social Drop In is an informal coffee morning for parents of pre-crawling babies to get to know others who are also welcoming a new little person into their family. . Contact Jo at jobardsley@hotmail.com for further information.
12pm-2pm – Laughter Club – Meets weekly and is for people to socialise and make new friends and enjoy pleasant company. Set up originally for people who are on employment support allowance on the work programme with SEETEC, but others are welcome. For more information email.
2pm-2.30pm – Mindfulness Training – Robert Beard has been training in mindfulness practice for over 30 years. He is offering a drop-in taster session on Wednesdays which consists of a lead practice called ‘bringing the senses home’. It lasts for half an hour with a prompt start time and a brief introduction to the nature of mindfulness. Attendance by donation (suggested minimum £5). For more information email.
2pm-5pm – Mill Radio – A small group that meets at the Mill to make recorded programmes for podcast (distribution on the Internet) and distribution by means of free CDs at the Mill reception desk. Our aim is to explore issues that matter to local people, give a platform to local creative talent and engage in informal chat about all our lives, interests and opinions. 2pm- 5pm – Wellbeing for Seniors – This six-week course, led by Karen Liebenguth Qualified Life Coach and Accredited Mindfulness Trainer, is designed to support seniors to flourish in retirement and old age, to make the most of and appreciate their lives, to keep in touch with their talents and interests and live fulfilling lives. 10am – 11am – Spanish for you … Español para usted. Classes run by a native Spanish speaker for beginners and improvers (of any age) The cost is £6 per session (6 week terrm payable in advance). 11am-3pm – Jumble Trail – Make The Mill’s stall one of your stops on the St James Big Local Jumble Trail. We’ll have lots of good quality bric-a-brac, plants, books and baby clothes – and, this is a stall with a difference, because you will also be able to refresh yourself with a cuppa (and, maybe, cake and biscuits) before you move on to the next stall.
