We will be open as usual – 9.30am-6pm Tuesday to Friday, and 10am-2pm Saturday and Sunday – for you to just drop-in to:
- Use the honesty library- a great selection of books donated by local residents which you can take away to read, and then return or not … (we don’t check!)
- View the latest art exhibition in our ‘living-room’.
- Make a cuppa (tea and coffee supplies are available for a small donation of 50p)
- Bring your little ones to enjoy all the toys in the Childrens’ Playroom, or
- Just come in for a chat – there’s always someone on the reception desk to welcome you.
There are also other activities going on this week and below are details of those which are open to newcomers. Details given include if you can drop-in, if you need to book, if there is any cost and who to contact if you need more information.

“Home” our latest exhibition of art is on the walls in the ‘living room’. The exhibition explores how amazing our little piece of the world really is and why so many of us have chosen to live here. “Home” is an emotive thing – people have been inspired to paint, draw, write poetry and wax lyrical in many paintings and songs about what it means to them. Monday 8 August
6pm-7pm – Gentle Yoga – Learn some gentle healing poses and relaxation techniques, which you can also do safely at home. Classes are small (up to 8 students), so you will get plenty of individual attention. £10 drop in or £9 with a loyalty card. 7pm-8.30pm – Ashtanga Yoga – This class is also led by Josetta who specialises in teaching beginners this dynamic style of yoga, but all levels are catered for.Regular students buy ten week loyalty cards for a discounted £10 per class. Drop-ins are also welcome, space permitting for £11. This class is for anyone with little or no experience of either yoga or Ashtanga yoga, as well as for those who wish to develop their practice. Tuesday 9 August
7pm-9pm – Warner Estates (WE) Project – Talk and Walk. Starts with information about the project, and then a walk to look at WE properties (from the outside and maybe also the inside) in the immediately surrounding streets. WE is a project exploring the Warner Estate in Walthamstow and Leyton. Originally started in 2014, the project has now gained Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England funding for a new phase involving an exhibition and archive at Vestry House Museum and a mobile phone app guided tour. 7.30pm-8.30pm – Yoga for Cyclists – a 5-week yoga course geared toward the cyclist, but suitable for all. Classes will aim to work core muscles and improve flexibility in areas typically tightened through cycling. They will also provide useful stretches that you can use before and after a ride on your bicycle. The pace is moderate, with select poses being held for longer. The five 1 hour classes are recommended as a course, though drop ins are also welcome (space dependent). £10 per class or £45 in advance for all 5 weeks. There are limited spaces and class size is small, so booking is advisable. Blocks and straps will be provided. Mats available at request, but please bring your own if possible. Wednesday 10 August
12pm-2pm – Laughter Club – Meets weekly and is for people to socialise and make new friends and enjoy pleasant company. Set up originally for people who are on employment support allowance on the work programme with SEETEC, but others are welcome. 2pm-2.30pm – Mindfulness Training – Robert Beard has been training in mindfulness practice for over 30 years. He is offering a drop-in taster session on Wednesdays which consists of a lead practice called ‘bringing the senses home’. It lasts for half an hour with a prompt start time and a brief introduction to the nature of mindfulness. Attendance by donation (suggested minimum £5).
6.30pm-8pm – Knitting Drop-In – Suitable for experienced knitters or the complete beginner. Support and teaching where required. Everyone welcome for £1 donation. For more information email – or just come along.
Thursday 11 August
9.30am-12.00pm – The New Parents Social Drop In is an informal coffee morning for parents of pre-crawling babies to get to know others who are also welcoming a new little person into their family. For more information, contact Jo by email.
12pm-1.30pm – Words, Conversation and Scrabble group – Come along to gain confidence in spoken English, or simply if you enjoy a good game of Scrabble to help improve your vocabulary. All nationalities welcome. For more information email Adele Tinman
Friday 12 August
10am-1pm – Parent-Child Led Play Workshop. The first of two workshops (second will be on Friday 19 August) led by Renatta Fake. In these fun sessions, Renatta will set various tasks and will talk through the benefits of play. The recommended ages for these workshops are children from 5 to 11 years and it is suggested that one adult attends with one child, however, if you need or would like to bring more children this is also possible. These sessions are a great opportunity for parents to gain a better understanding about how to make the most of play with their children. Spaces in these workshops are limited to 10 parents with a child (or children). Please book early to avoid disappointment. It is also very important participants are punctual to sessions. 11am-12pm – High Street Ward Councillors’ Surgery – surgeries normally take place on the second Saturday of each month at The Mill, but at the time of posting this notice, the councillors have not yet confirmed if the August surgery will take place at The Mill. So it will be advisable for you to email one of your local ward councillors to check if the surgery is going ahead – Councillor Liaquat Ali or Councillor Raja Anwar or Councillor Clare Coghill.

No particular activities or events this Sunday, but we’ll be open as usual 10am-2pm for you to drop-in to look at the latest exhibition, browse and borrow from the honesty library, and use the children’s playroom.
