A free illustrated talk by Robert Wilkinson of the Waltham Forest Oral History Workshop on the history of shops and market stalls in the St James Street conservation area and a discussion afterwards. Anyone interested in local history is welcome. Come and share your own memories! We are also introducing WFOHW’s oral history project which will record memories of shopkeepers, shop workers and shoppers over the next year as part of the St James Street Townscape Regeneration Project,funded by the Borough of Waltham Forest and the Heritage Lottery Fund. We are looking for volunteers and are offering free oral history and archive research training.
