Garden Room and Walthamstow Marshes

£2 per pair per workshop, drop in until May half term

These creative and exciting workshops have been designed for girls aged 7 – 11 and their mothers, female carers, family or friends to have fun exploring the Walthamstow and Leyton Marshes using a variety of artistic techniques including drama, storytelling, movement and art.

In this series of 10-week workshops you will have the opportunity to learn and develop many new creative skills, which will culminate in a performance piece – a promenade – about people’s memories of the Marshes, that interweaves visual theatre, performance poetry, sound and art installations. You will be encouraged to express your own stories of the Marshes and combine them with the memories gathered from older local residents.

The workshops will be held every Saturday from 10.15am to 12.15pm during term time, either in The Mill’s Garden Room or at the Walthamstow Marshes. If you would like to come along and see what you’re doing, the workshops are drop in until May half term. The Performance Promenade will be held on the Marshes on Saturday 9 July and Sunday 10 July 2016.

All creative work will also feature in the exhibition Tales from the Marsh, which will be held at The Mill from 6 October 2016 until 3 December 2016.
