On Sunday 17th May, The Mill made a Tea Party for eighteen significantly older people, their volunteer drivers and representatives of the charity Contact the Elderly. Teams of volunteers from The Mill made sandwiches, home made cakes and gallons of tea. The Mill was alive with laughter and conversations. We were thrilled to welcome some of the actual subjects of Michael Whelan’s superb photographic portraits in the flesh: they were photographed as part of the exhibition ‘ If Not Now, when?’ on the walls at The Mill.

There were approximately fifteen Mill volunteers involved  – in catering teams, as Mill Ambassadors and as Memory Catchers. Lots of high quality “Milling” took place – with plenty of interaction between us and our special guests. It was a very joyous occasion. Our guests were entertaining and fun – it was a pleasure to have them!
