The Mill is  a fun-packed community centre with many activities catered for all ages. Come and join us for Music with Jo and her Cello, a special session for babies and toddlers to engage in cello music and, for all you E17 Art Trail lovers, we are holding a Art Trail afterglow ,  a round up of experiences from this year’s Art Trail!!

That`s not all;  Yoga for adults and babies continues here at The Mill, and there are more fun things  for babies and children to take part in such as Wriggly Rhythms – a singing session of nursery rhymes and  musical instruments. If you have a 3 – 5 year old budding dancer wanting to twist and shout, then the Creative Dance class is perfect for them.

10:30 – 12:00 Young Start Up
This is a seven week, part time, free course for young people 27 years or younger and who are unemployed and resident of Waltham Forest.This course will motivate you to not just talk about your brilliant business idea but give you the information, tools and support to get started. It is practical – getting you to take the first steps between sessions. The idea of business will be covered from different angles in an interactive and fun way.

Friday 26th October

10:00 to 11:00 Wriggly Rhythms Wriggly Rhythms is a group for babies and toddlers who want to sing with their parents and carers. During a 45 minute session, they will get the opportunity to sing songs, shake shakers, meet puppets, dance, listen and, of course, sing. A variety of songs from traditional nursery rhymes and counting songs to less familiar songs around themes that change every half term. Lots of repetition provides familiarity and a good foundation for learning while, for parents, it’s the opportunity to learn new songs to sing at home of dust off your memories to keep the traditional rhymes alive. The Mill Community space knitting group meets every Friday from 10am to 12 noon. For experienced knitters or the complete novice. Support and teaching where required. Everyone welcome.


Saturday 27th October

10:00 – 11:15 Creative Dance Workshops for 3-5 year olds
Children will explore how the body can move, building physical confidence and creativity. Using music, rhymes, props and objects children will explore moving in different ways. How might you move with wellington boots, brightly coloured feathers or a large elastic ring? a fun and stimulating workshop where children can learn some movement ‘building blocks’ such as body parts, leading and following and musical shapes while also developing their own ideas.
2 x 35 minutes sessions :

Sevan Peace is a friendly approachable tutor with four years teaching experience,offering a unique ability to play with other guitarists of a similar level. Classes are organised into abillity and cost £10 per session. You’ll need a guitar, other  useful yet not compulsory accessories would include a tuner, metronome, and picks. Spooktastic fun at The Mill from 2pm until 4.30pm. Make a spooky puppet and create a show! have your face painted for Halloween and feast yourselves if you dare on our fabulous spook flavoured cakes! Wear your favouite halloween costumes and come and enjoy the fun! FREE entry and small charge for activities.

14:00  – 16:00 Spanish for You
Spanish is a fun and easy language to learn. This course is aimed at beginners and improvers (of any age) and you will learn how to ask for information, get around, order food and drink and start basic conversations. The class will run on Saturdays 2-4pm. I am a native Spanish speaker, with a teaching qualification from the UK, so why not enrol! The cost is £10 per session (term payable in advance). 11:00 – 12:00 Homework Club for young people The Homework Club forms a part of the Salaam Peace Positive Routes Waltham Forest Project funded by the WF Youth Offer. The aim of the homework club is to provide a safe and appropriate environment for local Young People to use. A tutor is provided and access to lap-tops. Young People turn up with any homework and are given support to develop their skills and knowledge. For more information on this and to join the homework club email sab@salaampeace.org

Who is it aimed at?  Beginners and improvers – Everyone is welcome! Aged from 11 years upwards When? Every Sunday from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. Starts: 1 April 2012 What to pay? Minimum donation £2 (towards The Mill) What to bring? A few chess sets would be available, but please bring your own set – if you have one!  See you there!
