It’s been one year since we took on the old St James Street Library, starting an extraordinary process of revival that culminated in the opening of The Mill last September. Since then the people-power of E17 has shown the world what a dedicated community can achieve.
The Mill is now a thriving social hub that hosts activities from knitting club to kids’ circus training. We have shown that there’s almost no limit to what can be achieved there, and we want to underline that with this round of grants.
What could you do with £100 and 15 hours at The Mill?
So what’s the deal?
We are offering 20 grants of £100 plus 15 hrs room hire. So, in a nutshell, successful candidates will get 15 hours and a hundred quid to run their own programme at The Mill that could make a real difference to people in our area. We are especially looking to support activities that could be the beginning of a longer-lasting relationship with The Mill.
Are we looking to support particular groups?
We will give preference to projects that are run by younger people and/or for younger people. We’ll also be looking for ideas that benefit older people, those living with health or disability issues and carers.
How do I know if my proposal is suitable?
We are open to all sorts of suggestions. Get creative, chew ideas over with friends – it’s up to you! If you’re unsure, email us at info@themill-coppermill.org.
So what’s the catch?
There isn’t one. We are not asking for you to provide anything more than your time and energy.
So what’s The Mill got that will help my project?
The Mill offers a variety of rooms suitable for activities of all sorts.
- Friendly, flexible spaces, including a garden
- An honesty library
- We are licensed for the public performance of music
- There are facilities for making tea and coffee
- There is a disabled access toilet
