An exhibition of Street Photography @The Mill including Christian Mantio’s New York streets and Wendy Le Ber (Padmayogini) & Helen Porter’s London Views opens on March 6.
Street photography is growing in popularity and at its heart street photography is about the well captured moment on the streets.
“Street photography is easy and it is difficult. It is easy because you find your subjects virtually everywhere. You don’t need to go for the extraordinary. Far from it the ordinary everyday thing is our matter of interest. It is difficult because the line to taking snap shots is very thin.” Michael Kaiser
“The characterisation of street photography include firstly a massive emphasis on the careful selection of those elements to include and exclude from the composition and an overwhelming obsession with the moment selected to make the exposure.
These two decisions may at first seem obvious and universal to all kinds of photography, but it is with these two tools alone that the street photographer finds or creates meaning in his images. He has no props or lighting, no time for selecting and changing lenses or filters, he has a split second to recognise and react to a happening.” Nick Turpin
