What is Chi Kung?
Chi Kung is an ancient Chinese art that is similar to Yoga and Tai Chi, but the movements are much simpler. It consists of static postures, simple movements, stretching exercises, breathing exercises and sitting, standing and walking meditation. The Chi Kung I practise is called ‘Five Element Chi Kung’. Each element (Earth, Metal, Water, Wood and Fire) contains certain properties, which manifest as certain movements in the body. The aim is to balance all the elements in the body.

What is Chi?
Chi is a life-force energy, which according to Traditional Chinese Medicine exists in all living beings.
The free flow of chi in our body is important for maintaining health.
In other cultures this energy is known as ‘prana’ (India) or ‘ki’ (Japan).

About the classes
During these beginner classes we will mainly work with simple movements, static postures and meditation. They have been designed to help you become more grounded and relaxed.

Who can take part?
Chi Kung is suitable for adults of all abilities. It is a gentle, low impact form of exercise.

About myself
I hold a Chi Kung diploma from the College of Elemental Chi Kung.
I have been doing martial arts (mainly Karate and Aikido) since the age of 14 and practised Yoga for a number of years before I discovered Chi Kung in 2007. My intention is to help people to be more in tune with their body and to be more grounded and relaxed.
