September Newsletter – E17 Art Trail & Community Grants

The Mill is open – Come on in

Join an activity or just pop in, make yourself a cuppa & read the papers in our big “living room”.  We offer a friendly space whether you want to stop by to chat, catch up on some homework or to see what events are coming up.

The children’s room is proving very popular, parents and children love it.

It’ll be on the walls from the 3rd – 23rd September.

Community Grants

Do you have an idea to improve the neighbourhood?

The Mill, as part of the funding it’s received from NESTA, wants to help small community groups & individuals in our local area. We’ll be awarding small grants so that you can do some of the things you may have always wanted to do, but not had the money to try out.

We are looking for people and groups that work with or are made up of:

Older people

Families with children

People living with illness

People who are not currently working

People who are vulnerable

We are particularly keen on funding people & groups that have never applied for grants before – now is your chance to experiment and try things!

If you need any help or advice on the grants programme please contact john@themill-coppermill.org or come to The Mill.

We would also like to fund groups working with lots of our different local nationalities & faiths as well as those working on environmental issues.

Under the terms of our grant we can only fund groups or people that work in the Blackhorse Action Group residents’ association area or that will make a real difference to people living in this area.

Grants are between £250 and a maximum of £1,000.

You will need community match, which means pledges of volunteer time or money towards your project.

To apply you need a grants pack.

Download it HERE along with an application form.
Alternatively email info@themill-coppermill or pick one up at the building.

The deadline for applications is September the 16th, and grant money needs to be spent by Feb 2012.

We hope to do another grants round later in the year.

For Black History Month in October we’ll be showcasing Islamic, Black and Asian women artists.

A huge thank you to everyone that’s helped

Last but not least we’d like to say thanks to everyone who’s turned up, painted, sanded, varnished & transformed the building over the last few weeks.
