Community Hub on Coppermill Lane
The St James Street Library Building on Coppermill Lane will open as a Community Centre called The Mill later this summer.
We are a group of local residents who have funding from NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) for one year to provide a place for community groups to put on events, and a space for people to come and spend time with each other.
This month we are getting the building ready to open its doors in August. There are lots of things we are sorting out to make sure the building is safe to use.
Volunteers have already been brilliant in providing expert help and we shall be calling on more people once the plans are drawn up over the coming weeks.
Space to Let
We would like to let out some of the upstairs rooms in the building to community groups and other partners.
This would help fund further refurbishments, and future rent to the council. If you, or anyone you know, could be seriously interested in this, please get in touch.

There will be another ‘open visit’ between 12 noon and 2pm on the 25th June for you come into the building to have a look and to leave your details if you want to find out more or get involved.
You can find out more about The Mill charity we are setting up, the staff we are recruiting, and the events that we and other community groups are planning to run.
