“Work in Progress…? reflects my increasing concern about the threats to our biodiversity. I had drawn the Geological Timescale over 20 years ago and thought it was time to incorporate it into a textile. It shows the short time humans have been on the planet and the damage we have done to all the evolution that has preceded us through millions of years. I hand-embroidered each creature – my intention was always to capture the beauty of the animals in stitch but now I need to find a way to destroy them in the textile, because it sure isn’t meant to be pretty! So, the work has stalled for the moment…”
