Grow your skills alongside your very own tree in this six-part bonsai course in London, made for complete beginners.
The course follows the seasonal rhythm of the trees, so you’ll learn each technique at the right time of year. Sessions may shift slightly depending on how the trees are growing, or to cover anything the group would like to talk about.
Across the six sessions, you’ll cover:
- Session 1: repotting and care (Tue 23 Feb 2027 at 7pm)
- Session 2: feeding and pests (Tue 23 Mar 2027 at 7pm)
- Session 3: pruning and wiring (Tue 27 Apr 2027 at 7pm)
- Session 4: discovering bonsai species (Tue 25 May 2027 at 7pm)
- Session 5: defoliation (Tue 22 Jun 2027 at 7pm)
- Session 6: deadwood artistry with jin and shari (Tue 27 Jul 2027 at 7pm)
You’ll work on your own Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) throughout the course, and it’s yours to take home. All soil mixes, pots and wire are provided in each session, along with access to specialist bonsai tools.
After every class, you’ll get a step-by-step aftercare guide so you know exactly how to look after your tree until we meet again. You’ll also have direct advice and regular check-ins from your teacher throughout the growing season, so there’s always someone to ask when a leaf does something unexpected.
Can’t make one of the dates? No worries!
You will get a detailed digital guides for every session and offer 1-on-1 check-ins or catch-up materials so your tree stays on track throughout the season.
By July, you’ll have spent half a year learning the craft in real time, with a tree that’s been shaped by your own hands and the know-how to keep it thriving for years to come.
