Incloodu: What is ‘Deaf Culture’?

An introduction to understanding the culture of the deaf community.
The course aims to promote awareness and understanding of the diversity and richness of a marginalised section of society.
Session 1 will use a short documentary film illustrating deaf life in India, followed by a discussion.
There will also be an opportunity to produce a piece of visual art that expresses participants perspective on deaf culture.
Hearing, hard of hearing and deaf of all ages welcome. Hearing participants may be asked to wear ear plugs during some parts of the project. Final artwork produced on this project will be exhibited at Incloodu Deaf Arts festival at Rich Mix Arts complex, Shoreditch in January 2015.
